About our Cloudflare news

Latest news on Cloudflare, covering Cloudflare outages, Cloudflare Workers, DDoS protection, CDN, 1.1.1.1 DNS, WARP, Zero Trust, AI crawler controls, Pay Per Crawl, Cloudflare Radar, security research and acquisitions such as Deno and VoidZero for developers, website owners and security teams.

Cloudflare is an internet infrastructure company founded in 2009 by Matthew Prince, Lee Holloway and Michelle Zatlyn and based in San Francisco. Its network sits between websites and their visitors, providing a content delivery network, DDoS mitigation, DNS and security services. A January 2026 survey put its share of all websites at about 21 per cent.

On 9 October 2026 Cloudflare announced it was acquiring Deno, the JavaScript runtime, after buying VoidZero, the company behind Vite, in June 2026. In July 2025 it began blocking AI crawlers by default for new sites and introduced Pay Per Crawl. Because so many sites use its network, incidents are widely reported, and on 18 November 2025 a global outage followed a database configuration change that the company said produced an invalid file.

Developers use Workers to run serverless code at the edge, alongside storage, databases and AI tools. Its public 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver and the WARP service are aimed at everyday users, while Zero Trust products control access to company applications. Cloudflare Radar publishes internet traffic and attack trends, and the company's blog posts technical write-ups on security and performance.

The company holds an annual Birthday Week of product announcements and has a large developer community around Workers. Critics point to its content-moderation decisions on controversial customers, which Cloudflare says it keeps to a minimum unless the law requires otherwise. Commentators also note that an incident at one large provider can affect many sites at once.

Prince and Holloway first built Project Honey Pot, a spam-tracking project that led to Cloudflare. The company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker NET on 13 September 2019. It bought the email security firm Area 1 in 2022 and announced the purchase of Replicate, an AI model platform, in November 2025.

Our NewsNow Cloudflare news feed gathers the latest headlines on Cloudflare outages, Workers, DDoS protection, Zero Trust, AI crawler controls, security research and company announcements from around the world. It gives developers, website owners and security teams a clear view of the company and the internet infrastructure around it.
