Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of England's eighteen first-class county clubs, formally constituted in 1839 as successor to earlier Sussex sides. Based at the County Ground in Hove, the club also stages fixtures at Arundel and Horsham. Its limited-overs teams compete as the 'Sussex Sharks', while the county's Second XI and academy sides help develop talent for the professional squad.

Historic figures associated with the club include Ranjitsinhji, C.B. Fry and, in the modern era, Imran Khan and Tony Greig, reflecting Sussex's long tradition of attracting notable cricketing talent. The club's role in developing roundarm bowling in the nineteenth century helped shape the modern game.
