Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs in English and Welsh domestic cricket. Founded in 1879, the club represents the historic county of Leicestershire and also carries representative status for Rutland. Home matches are played at Grace Road in Leicester, a compact ground with a long history in the county circuit. The limited overs side competes as the Foxes, a nickname closely tied to the club's white ball success.

Leicestershire spent 22 consecutive years outside the top tier of the County Championship. The club won Division Two in 2025, securing promotion back to the top flight. That followed a One Day Cup win over Hampshire in 2023, the club's first trophy in over a decade. The Foxes also compete each summer in the T20 Blast, one of domestic cricket's most popular Twenty20 competitions.

Leicestershire Foxes Women play within the regional domestic structure, helping build the women's game locally. The Emerging Player Programme and wider academy system give young cricketers from Leicestershire and Rutland a route into professional cricket. Grassroots coaching and school outreach schemes continue to support cricket across both counties.

Leicestershire's first first-class match came against Essex at Leyton in 1894, ahead of joining the County Championship the following year. The club's first Championship title arrived in 1975 under Ray Illingworth, part of five trophies won in five years. A second golden era followed in the 1990s, with further titles secured in 1996 and 1998. Leicestershire has also produced notable England players, including David Gower, Ray Illingworth and commentator Jonathan Agnew.
