Surrey County Cricket Club, founded in 1845, is one of eighteen first-class counties competing in English domestic cricket. Based at the Oval in Kennington, south London, the club has held first-class status continuously since its formation. Surrey have won the County Championship more times than any county other than Yorkshire. The team competes across red-ball, one-day and T20 cricket, fielding men's, women's and Second XI sides.

The club was formed at a meeting in the Horns Tavern in 1845, when local cricket clubs agreed to unite under one Surrey side. Its home, the Oval, later staged the first Test match between England and Australia in 1882, giving rise to the Ashes. Surrey also fields a thriving women's team and runs a Second XI as part of its player pathway. Community coaching programmes and youth membership schemes continue to introduce cricket to new generations across south London and Surrey.

Surrey enjoyed an early golden age in the 1890s, then dominated English cricket with seven consecutive County Championship titles from 1952 to 1958. Legendary players including Jack Hobbs, Jim Laker, Alec Bedser and Peter May built that reputation during the mid-20th century. Supporters sometimes call the team the 'Brown Caps', a nod to the club's traditional chocolate-brown colours. That heritage still shapes the identity of Surrey cricket today, from junior coaching to first-team selection.
