    About our Xinjiang news

Latest news on Xinjiang, a province in the northwest of China home to the Uyghur people, a Turkic Muslim minority who have long experienced discrimination and violence at the hands of the Chinese government. In recent years, the government has ramped up its efforts to control the Uyghur population, including through the use of forced labour and mass surveillance. The UN's top expert on slavery offered the following statement in a report published in August 2022: 'The Special Rapporteur regards it as reasonable to conclude that forced labour among Uighur, Kazakh and other ethnic minorities in sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing has been occurring in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of China'.
