The France men's national rugby union team, also known as Le XV de France or Les Bleus, was founded in 1906 when they played their first test match against New Zealand. Les Bleus joined what would become as a result the Five Nations Championship, now the Six Nations Championship, in 1910, and have won the tournament 18 times outright. The men's team have also reached the Rugby World Cup final on three occasions.
The France women's national rugby union team was founded in 1982 and played their first test match against the Netherlands. Perennial contenders in the Women's Six Nations Championship and the Women's Rugby World Cup, the France women's national rugby union team has won the former on six occasions and have finished third seven times in the latter.
