Latest news on Leigh Leopards, formerly Leigh Centurions, the Super League rugby league club from Leigh, Greater Manchester, covering results, team news, transfers, rumours and the Leigh Sports Village.
Founded in 1878, Leigh are one of the oldest clubs in rugby league. The Centurions name was used from the mid-1990s, and the club rebranded as the Leopards ahead of the 2023 season. Leigh won the league championship in 1905-06 and 1981-82.
Regular talking points include recruitment, the salary cap, stadium and fan-experience plans and how a town club competes with bigger Super League rivals. Leigh have moved between the top flight and the Championship several times.
Leigh is a close-knit rugby league town. Wigan, Warrington and St Helens are the great local rivals. Since 2008 the club has played at Leigh Sports Village, which in 2025 took the name Progress with Unity Stadium in a council initiative. Before that Leigh played at Hilton Park, still remembered fondly by older supporters.
Leigh have won the Challenge Cup three times, in 1921, 1971 and 2023. The 2023 win, in their first season as the Leopards, ended more than 50 years without a Wembley triumph and made the club a fan favourite. They have been a Super League side on a number of occasions since 1996.
Our Leigh Leopards feed covers the latest Leigh news, Super League results, team news, transfers, rumours and analysis on the Leopards and the former Leigh Centurions, gathered from across the web in one place.
