Washington State is considered a blue state. In the federal government, Washington is represented by two U.S. Senators and ten U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray Democrats. Of the ten Representatives, eight are Democrats and two are Republican. Washington has a Democrat governor, Jay Inslee, who was reelected in 2020. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
