Both Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer are Democrats. Of the twenty-six Representatives, fifteen are Democrats and eleven are Republicans. New York has a Democrat governor, Kathy Hochul, who was elected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
