Texas is considered a red state. In the federal government, Texas is represented by two U.S. Senators and thirty-eight U.S. Representatives. Both Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz are Republican. Of the thirty-eight Representatives, twenty-five are Republican and thirteen are Democrats. Texas has a Republican governor, Greg Abbott, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
