New Jersey is considered a blue state. In the federal government, New Jersey is represented by two U.S. Senators and twelve U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez are Democrats. Of the twelve Representatives, nine are Democrats and three are Republicans. New Jersey has a Democrat governor, Phil Murphy, who was reelected in 2021. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
