    Illinois is considered a strong blue state. In the federal government, Illinois is represented by two U.S. Senators and seventeen U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin are Democrats. Of the seventeen Representatives, fourteen are Democrats and three are Republicans. Illinois also has a Democrat governor, J.B. Pritzker, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
