About our Kazakhstan news

Latest news on Kazakhstan, including updates on country politics, international relations, trade, social issues and much from from trusted sources.

Kazakhstan, officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a transcontinental landlocked country located mainly in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe. The country shares borders with Russia, China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, with a coastline along the Caspian Sea. Its capital is Astana, known as Nur-Sultan from 2019 to 2022.

Kazakhstan was the last of the Soviet republics to declare independence during the dissolution of the Soviet Union from 1988 to 1991 and has since become a unitary state with a presidential system of government.

The economy of Kazakhstan is diverse, with a strong focus on natural resources, including oil, gas, and minerals. The country's strategic location has also made it an important transportation hub, connecting Europe and Asia through its extensive rail and road networks.
