Latest current affairs news on Bhutan, including updates on politics, economy, social issues, and international relations from trusted sources.

Bhutan, officially known as the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked Southern Asian country, which is located in the Eastern Himalayas, between China in the north and India in the south. It is also known locally as 'Druk Yul' or 'Land of the Thunder Dragon', a name reflecting the Bhutanese national symbol. Its capital and largest city is Thimphu.

Bhutan is a constitutional monarchy with a king (officially known as the Druk Gyalpo) as the head of state and a prime minister as the head of the government. Vajrayana Buddhism is the state religion and the Je Khenpo is the head of state religion.

The mountains of Bhutan are some of the most prominent natural geographic features of the kingdom. Located south of the Eastern Himalaya, Bhutan has one of the most rugged mountain terrains in the world, reaching peaks higher than 7,000 metres (23,000 feet) above sea level. Gangkhar Puensum is Bhutan's highest peak and is the highest unclimbed mountain in the world.
