NewsNow brings you the latest news from the UK's most trusted sources on St Helens, a large town in Merseyside, England, with a population of 102,629. The town is the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, which had a population of 176,843 at the 2011 Census.

St Helens is built on a coal and sandstone geological base and surrounded by the towns of Widnes and Warrington in the north, and Skelmersdale and Ormskirk in the south. The town has a history dating back to the 12th century, when it was granted a charter by King Henry II.

St Helens town centre was largely rebuilt in the 1970s following a period of decline in the mid-20th century. The town has a number of tourist attractions, including the World of Glass museum, the Pilkington Glass Factory, and the Haydock Park racecourse.

St Helens is a member of the English Core Cities Group and is the home of the rugby league team the St Helens Saints.
