Latest news on the Carolina Hurricanes, a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh who compete in the Metropolitan Division of the NHL's Eastern Conference.

Founded in 1972 as the New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association (WHA), the franchise was moved to Connecticut and became the Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League until their eventual move and rebrand to North Carolina in 1997.

The Hurricanes won their first and only Stanley Cup in the 2005/06 season, defeating the Edmonton Oilers over seven games. They also have a minor league affiliation with the Norfolk Admirals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
