Florida is considered a red state. In the federal government, Florida is represented by two U.S. Senators and twenty-eight U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott are Republicans. Of the twenty-eight Representatives, twenty are Republicans and the other eight are Democrats. Florida has a Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
