About our Ghana news

Latest news on the West African country of Ghana, with updates on politics, crime, international relations, the economy and more from trusted sources.

Officially known as the Republic of Ghana, it is the second-most populous country in Africa. It covers an area of 238,535 square kilometres (92,099 square miles), spanning spanning diverse biomes that range from coastal savannahs to tropical rainforests.

Ghana gained independence from British colonial rule in 1957, becoming the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to achieve sovereignty. The country has since developed a presidential constitutional democracy with a parliamentary multi-party system that is dominated by two parties - the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
