Latest news on the New Irish Republican Army, or New IRA, a paramilitary group that was formed in July 2012. The group is estimated to have between 250 and 300 members and has been responsible for numerous acts of violence, including shootings, bombings, and attacks on police officers. Some of the incidents it has been linked to include the 2016 booby-trap bomb attack that killed a prison officer in Belfast, a spate of gun and bomb attacks on police officers during riots in Derry in 2018, and a car bomb attack on a courthouse in Derry in 2019.
