About our New York Mets news...
Latest news on the New York Mets, a professional baseball team based in the borough of Queens in New York City. Founded in 1962 the Mets were established to replace the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants who had both left the MLB’s National League. Seven years after their formation the Mets were added to the newly created East Division, a division they’ve won on six occasions.
Over the course of the team’s history the Mets have won two World Series championships with the last coming almost 40 years ago in the 1986 season. Since the turn of the century the Metsies have reached the World Series game on two further occasions but on both times lost by a margin on 4-1. Their defeat in the 2000 World Series was a particularly difficult result as they lost to their crosstown rivals the New York Yankees. The teams colours are blue, orange, and white, with their team logo featuring the New York City skyline.
Since 2009 the Mets have played their home games at Citi Field, a stadium with a capacity for over 41,000 fans and is located in Flushing Meadows. Before moving to their current stadium the Mets used to play in the now demolished Shea Stadium which was located on the same land as to where Citi Field was built.
