About our West Ham United Women news
Latest news on West Ham United Women (the Irons), covering WSL fixtures, results, match reports, transfer news, and Hammers updates from Dagenham.
West Ham United Women, widely known as the Irons or the Hammers, compete in the Women's Super League (WSL), the top tier of English women's football. The club plays its home matches at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Victoria Road in Dagenham. The first team trains at the club's facilities in East London.
A significant change came when Rita Guarino was appointed head coach in December 2025, following the departure of Rehanne Skinner. Guarino, who previously managed Inter Milan, took on her first role outside Italy. She steered the side through a tense relegation battle to secure the club's WSL status, with the division expanding to 14 teams.
The squad blends international experience with emerging talent, and players such as Dagný Brynjarsdóttir and Oona Siren have featured prominently. Off the pitch, the club continues to grow its fanbase across East London and Essex, promoting accessible ticketing and family-friendly matchdays. Rising attendances reflect the wider momentum behind the women's game.
Founded in 1991, the club has deep roots in the area and reached the Women's FA Cup final in 2019, where they finished runners-up. That achievement, under former head coach Matt Beard, marked a milestone in the club's rise to the professional ranks. The Hammers turned fully professional and earned their place in the WSL, where they have established themselves as a top-flight fixture.
