Latest cricket news and live updates on Australia v England, including headlines on The Ashes players, scores, batting order, results, world cup news, highlights and much more on the international cricket rivalry.

The cricketing rivalry between Australia and England is known as one of the fiercest rivalries in the sport. The sides meet every two years for the Ashes series which has been taking place since it was first contested in 1884. The origin of the Ashes came about when Australia beat England in London in 1882 and The Sporting Times jokingly declared the loss as the death of cricket. They published a mock obituary which stated that 'the ashes' of cricket will be taken home to Australia. Following this article The Ashes series was born.

Over the rivalries' 140 year history both sides have faced each other in all formats of international cricket amounting to over 350 matches. Australia have come out as victors on more occasions than England, with the Aussies winning more than 150 of the meetings between the pair.
