About our Peter Murrell news
Latest news on Peter Murrell, a former chief executive of the Scottish National Party (SNP) and the husband of Nicola Sturgeon, the former leader of the SNP and First Minister of Scotland. He resigned from his position in March 2023 after facing pressure from party members and opposition parties over allegations of fraud and mismanagement of party funds. He was arrested by Police Scotland on 5 April 2023 as part of the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the SNP. He is accused of diverting £600,000 in donations that were supposed to be used for a second independence referendum campaign to cover the party's running costs. He is also under scrutiny for a £107,620 interest-free loan made to the SNP that was not declared to the Electoral Commission for more than a year after the deadline.
