    Latest news on the Olivier Awards, the most prestigious awards for theatre in London. They are presented annually by the Society of London Theatre to recognise excellence in professional theatre.

    The Olivier Awards 2023 ceremony took place on 2 April 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall and was hosted by Hannah Waddingham. Some of the winners were My Neighbour Totoro, a stage adaptation of the beloved animated film by Hayao Miyazaki, which won six awards, including best entertainment or comedy play, best costume design, best sound design and best director for John Tiffany, A Streetcar Named Desire, which won revival and best director, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, awarded for best musical revival and best sound design, and Standing at the Sky's Edge, awarded for best original score or new orchestrations. Jodie Comer won best actress for her role in Prima Facie, a play about a lawyer who faces sexual assault charges. Paul Mescal won best actor for his role in A Streetcar Named Desire, a revival of Tennessee Williams' classic drama.

    Standing at the Sky's Edge, a musical based on the songs of Richard Hawley and set in a Sheffield council estate, won best new musical and best original score or new orchestrations. Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! won best musical revival and best actor in a musical for Arthur Darvill, who played Curly. Tammy Faye, a musical about the rise and fall of the televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, won best actress in a musical for Katie Brayben and best actor in a supporting role in a musical for Zubin Varla.
