Tennessee is considered a red state. In the federal government, Tennessee is represented by two U.S. Senators and nine U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty are Republican. Of the nine Representatives, eight are Republican and one is a Democrat. Tennessee has a Republican governor, William Byron Lee, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
