Both Senators Ted Budd and Thom Tillis are Republican. Of the fourteen Representatives, seven are Republicans and seven are Democrats. North Carolina has a Democrat governor, Roy Cooper, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
