    Minnesota is considered a blue state. In the federal government, Minnesota is represented by two U.S. Senators and eight U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith are Democrats. Of the eight Representatives, four are Republican and four are Democrats. Minnesota has a Democrat governor, Tim Walz, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have narrow majorities in both chambers.
