    Michigan is considered a battleground state. In the federal government, Michigan is represented by two U.S. Senators and thirteen U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow are Democrats. Of the thirteen Representatives, seven are Democrats and six are Republican. Michigan has a Democrat governor, Gretchen Whitmer, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
