About our Georgia Politics news

Latest politics news in the US State Georgia including updates on local, state and federal legislature, jobs, the cost of living, inflation, healthcare, and more.

The state of Georgia, USA, has a long history, starting in the 18th century as a British colony. During the 20th century, several Georgians, most notably Martin Luther King Jr., were prominent leaders during the civil rights movement. It became a competitive swing state in US politics in the late 2010s and early 2020s.

In the federal government, Georgia is represented by two U.S. Senators and fourteen U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are Democrats. Of the fourteen Representatives, nine are Republican and five are Democrats. Georgia has a Republican governor, Brian Kemp, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
