About our Christopher Luxon news

Latest news on Christopher Luxon, a New Zealand politician who is currently serving as New Zealand's 42nd Prime Minister, leading a conservative coalition government.

Christopher Luxon's political career began with his pre-selection for the National Party's seat in Botany, East Auckland, in 2019. Despite a landslide defeat for the National Party nationally, he managed to retain his seat in the 2020 elections. Luxon became the leader of the National Party towards the end of 2021, shortly after entering Parliament in 2020.

In the general elections held on 14 October 2023, Luxon's National Party won 38% of the vote, the largest share among all parties. Subsequently, the National Party formed a coalition government with two smaller parties, resulting in Luxon's appointment as Prime Minister.
