About our Activision Blizzard news

Latest news on Activision Blizzard, an American video game holding company based in Santa Monica, California.

The company was formed in 2008 through the merger of Activision and Vivendi Games and is renowned for developing and publishing some of the most popular and influential franchises in gaming history. Activision Blizzard's diverse portfolio includes titles like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Diablo.

Activision Blizzard has faced several significant controversies, including accusations of patent infringement and unpaid royalties. In July 2021, the company was sued by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing over allegations of sexual harassment and employee discrimination. This legal action prompted an investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, leading to workplace walkouts, the departure of several employees, the loss of event sponsors, and numerous allegations of workplace harassment.

In January 2022, Microsoft had announced its intent to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7m. The acquisition was later completed on 13 October 2023, with Activision becoming a subsidiary of Microsoft Gaming.
