Founded in 1971 as the Winnipeg Jets, the team moved and became the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996 before changing to the Arizona Coyotes in 2014. They play their home games at the Mullett Arena in Tempe.
As of 2023, the Coyotes are the oldest franchise in the National Hockey League to have never competed in the Stanley Cup Finals. They have just one divisional championship to their name, from the 2011/12 season.
They also have a minor league affiliation with the Tucson Roadrunners who compete in the American Hockey League (AHL).
