About our Cincinnati Reds news
Latest news on the Cincinnati Reds, a professional baseball team based in Cincinnati, Ohio and part of the National League’s Central Division. Established in 1881, the Reds didn’t officially join the National League until 1890. Initially known as the Cincinnati Red Stockings the side changed their name to the Reds in 1890 when they joined the NL. Since this rebranding the Cincinnati-based franchise have kept the same name for over 130 years aside from a brief spell in the 1950s when they were known as the Redlegs.
Throughout their history the Reds have won the World Series on five occasions. Their first triumph came in 1919 when they beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3, and their most recent Championship win came in 1990 when they beat the Oakland Athletics 4-0. Since their 1990 win the Reds have not yet made a return to the Championship game. The team’s colours are red, black and white.
Also known as the Big Red Machine, the Reds play their home games at the Great American Ball Park, a stadium they’ve called home since its opening in 2003.
