About our Wales Rugby Union news

Latest news on Wales rugby union, including updates on both the men's and women's national teams, match reports, injury news, and upcoming matches.

Welsh rugby union began in 1881 with the formation of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), marking the inception of organised rugby in Wales. The men's team has since become a prominent force, having won the Six Nations Championship, previously the Five Nations Championship and Home Nations Championship, 28 times outright whilst also producing third place and semi-final finishes in the Rugby World Cup.

The Wales women's national rugby union team was established in 1987, coinciding with the inaugural Women's Rugby World Cup that year and has since regularly competed in both the Women's Rugby World Cup and the Women's Six Nations Championship.
