Latest news on Jack Sonni (December 9, 1954 – August 30, 2023) was an American writer, musician and marketing executive, best known as "the other guitarist" in Dire Straits during the band's Brothers in Arms era. He joined the band in 1984 and played guitar synthesizer on "The Man's Too Strong". He also performed with Dire Straits at the Live Aid concert at Wembley in 1985.

After his collaboration with Dire Straits, Sonni worked as a marketing executive for several music companies, such as Seymour Duncan, Rivera Guitar Amplifiers, Line 6 and Guitar Center. He was also a writer and moved to various places, such as San Jose del Cabo, Healdsburg and Brooklyn.

Sonni died at the age of 68 on August 30, 2023. His cause of death has not been revealed. His death was announced by Dire Straits in a post online on August 31, 2023. They wrote: "#JackSonni Rest In Peace #DireStraits".
