We're looking for a fully remote Digital Revenue and Marketing Analyst to join our team. You will be crunching, analysing and reporting on our revenue, marketing and website performance data. This is a crucial role which will inform our data-driven commercial, marketing and product decision-making.

This role would suit you if you are at home with analysing complex data, have strong reporting skills and exceptional attention to detail, and would be keen to learn and grow within our collaborative team.

It could suit someone already in a data or financial analyst role, or potentially someone in accounting looking to develop their skills. There is the opportunity to progress to growing digital revenues for the right person.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to NewsNow's Managing Director, you will:

  • Collate, crunch and analyse key revenue, marketing and website performance data on a daily basis from a range of partner dashboards (like Google Ad Manager, Google Analytics and Google Search Console)
  • Become expert on the partner dashboards, the data and typical data trends and variations, allowing you to quickly identify anomalies when you see them.
  • Investigate anomalies to diagnose the underlying issues and suggest potential solutions where possible.
  • Present clear, detailed and unerringly accurate data reports and executive summaries of key results to senior management weekly and monthly.
  • Attend regular meetings with the Managing Director and relevant other colleagues to discuss your reports and their commercial implications in detail.
  • Cooperate with the heads of other departments in planning and executing the measurement and analysis of marketing campaigns performance and the performance of changes to our advertising systems and website functionality.
  • Liaise with partner account managers and support teams, raising issues with data or data collection systems that may be their responsibility to resolve, helping us ensure they meet contractual obligations and provide value for money.
  • Maintain detailed but accessible documentation on all data collation and analysis processes.
  • Develop your knowledge of partner systems and offerings and research industry developments and trends and best practices through self-directed online learning/training and by attending occasional industry events.

The right candidate will:

  • Be intelligent, analytical and highly numerate with acute attention to detail and a proven ability to provide flawless data gathering and reporting in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be highly confident in using a range of office and data tools or dashboards, and become expert in navigating new ones.
  • Possess strong organisational skills.
  • Be a self-learner, able to develop your own skills and knowledge across a range of software, platforms and disciplines.
  • Be experienced in putting together comprehensive comparative reports that provide accessible business intelligence to senior management.
  • Have great communication skills, be capable of clear and efficient communication via electronic messaging and online meetings.

Basic training on industry-specific knowledge, our partner dashboards and our own particular data aggregation and analysis processes, will be provided. However any of the following would be a bonus:

  • An understanding of yield optimisation using key digital advertising metrics like revenue, impressions, eCPM, requests, CTR and viewability and how to report on these in Google Ad Manager.
  • An understanding of SEO, how the Google search engine works and how to report on that in Google Search Console.
  • An understanding of site performance metrics like users, sessions, page views, pages/session, time on site, and how to report on these in Google Analytics.
  • Familiarity with any other relevant commercial, marketing or site performance dashboards or platforms.
  • An understanding of randomised A/B split-testing methodology.
  • An understanding of NewsNow's unique news aggregation offering.

About NewsNow

NewsNow is a news organisation that uses technology to filter and present news in real time, from thousands of sources, on thousands of topics, to millions of users, 24 hours a day.

NewsNow's site features content on a wide range of subjects, including current affairs, business and entertainment, and we are a go-to destination for football and sports fans. Everything we do is driven by our core mission, to support and promote credible and independent public interest journalism.

We want to change the way people read the news, getting them to adopt a healthy news diet by reading widely outside their comfort zone, and we want to foster and support news that is written in the public interest, by publishers who are free, independent and well-supported.

We believe that news is an essential element of a democratic society, and we want to play a role in making sure it serves that function well. We are a unique fusion of editorial with technology, driven by a desire to provide quality content, and not by a need to mine our users' attention at all costs. Our technology is always at the service of our editorial standards, and not the reverse.

NewsNow is a family-friendly organisation that recognises the importance of a healthy work-life balance and, along with many other benefits, supports this through a flexible working pattern that allows you to choose when you start and finish work.

  • Open: we share and collaborate within and across departments
  • Rigorous: We like to be clear about what we're doing, and why. Experimentation and peer-review are in our DNA
  • One team, one vision: no office politics
  • An appreciative environment: expect to hear 'thanks' a lot
  • Room to grow: development of skills and responsibilities is encouraged and rewarded
  • Virtual: we are today a fully-remote company with occasional in-person get-togethers
  • Family-friendly and flexible: we offer flexible working, and understand sometimes personal needs come first
