Make your career our future

200m page views. 15m users. 1 massive impact.

We may be a top ten UK media publisher, our website loved by millions. Yet despite our huge success, we've jealously protected our start-up culture over the past 20 years. Which means today, we're still a company where everyone who joins us gets to make a massive impact.

[Learn more about who we are and our approach.]

Who are we — The publisher of NewsNow.co.uk, a one-stop shop for news and the UK’s largest independent free-to-web real-time news aggregator. We also publish NewsNow Classifieds, an aggregator of classified advertising.

Our mission — to be the best site on the web for those seeking news from all the angles.

Our commercial model and results — widely-acknowledged as a leader in programmatic advertising, we've enjoyed successive years of high growth in earnings.

Our technology — largely built from the ground-up using only open-source components; highly automated and designed for scalability, redundancy, maintainability and contingency; elegant solutions that stand the test of time are highly prized, while our agile and Kanban methods allow us to roll out updates whenever they're ready, in minutes.

Our editorial outlook — fairness, objectivity and credibility in news reporting; for an aggregator, content may be key, but curation is king. We are a driver of quality in the news media and today set editorial standards for much of the content we link to.

Our start-up ethos — every project is run like a start-up within the company; we hate hierarchy and bureaucracy and we prize initiative. At NewsNow, career progression isn't a sequence of static responsibilities and staid job titles, but a continuous learning experience where every development in skills, experience and responsibility is valued. This is the philosophy of the Founder & CEO, Struan Bartlett, who oversees all major editorial and engineering projects ensuring decisions get made quickly and action happens fast.

Expanding our capabilities…

We're in an incredibly fast-moving world and we don't like resting on our laurels. Life is short and we're ambitious.

Staying at the forefront of our industry and our fields, takes huge amounts of editorial and engineering skill and creativity, and commercial nous. We're in the process of completely reinventing our homepages, launching a US version, and much more.

That's why we're in the market for a variety of editorial, engineering and business talent, ideally with experience in the news industry, and passionate about creating news UX that's fit for the 'post-news' age.

In engineering, we're bringing in:

  • web developers;
  • news algorithm developers, skilled in content generation algorithms, natural language processing, lexical or semantic analysis, lexical datasets (e.g. WordNet, YAGO), data mining, signal analysis and/or cloud learning;
  • programmatic advertising engineers, skilled in JavaScript (ECMAScript 5 and ECMAScript 6) and NodeJS;
  • all of which positions are available at our London Euston head office, our Folkestone satellite office (both with opportunities for flexible/home/working), or 100% remote.

In editorial, we're bringing in more IT-savvy media graduates, who as Editorial Assistants will be responsible for upholding website editorial standards through the maintenance and development of our online news source database:
